Posted 5:56 AM 10/19/2012 : Hittin' the Trails 4 You: Mt. Lemmon's Fall foliage hot-spots
MOUNT LEMMON - A golden oasis awaits at the Mount Lemmon Trail. Aspens are popping along the path, coupled with breathtaking views of the valley floor below. Expect a rocky, moderate hike that gets tougher the further you go.
More aspens and maples await on the appropriately named Aspen Draw Trail. The trailhead is rather non-descript, residing between a guard rail and wood fence near Ski Valley. You'll descend into a world of radiant reds and shimmering yellows. The Aspen Draw Trail is a more family friendly hike, only 2.5 miles round trip.
Finally, colors are just starting to get going in the Bear Wallow area. This spot is more heavy on the maples than aspens. Of note, there is not an official trail. The Coronado National Forest advises hikers to use the dirt road that winds through Bear Wallow.
