TUCSON - Several law enforcement agencies have responded to Flowing Wells Middle School to conduct a full sweep of the campus after a school officials found a threatening note.
Students will be released at the regular time, 3 p.m., Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Deputy Tom Peine confirmed to News 4 Tucson.
Explosive-sniffing dogs from several agencies, including Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, have arrived to expedite the search of the school, which includes checking every student's backpack.
At around 9:30 a.m. today, the school's principal contacted the sheriff's department after finding a note on school grounds indicating a threat, Flowing Wells Associate Superintendent Dr. David Baker confirmed to News 4 Tucson.
"The note indicated there was harm to be done, and therefore we contacted the sheriff's department," Baker said.
Nearby Centennial Elementary was not affected by the lockdown, Dep. Peine confirmed.
