Posted 5:51 PM 1/16/2013 : Flood of teams has Soccer Shootout scrambling for fields
Tucson - With a break from the frosty temps the timing couldn't be better for the annual Tucson Association of Realtors Shootout this weekend.
This year the number of soccer teams entering the tournament is way up causing officials to scramble to find enough fields for all the games.
There are 358 teams that have entered this tournament, up by 40 teams this year. While that many entrants may have innitially panicked the tournament officials, Director of Operations, Curt Connor, says they now have all the facilities they will need to make the soccer shootout another great event, "We were able to add the new soccer complex down at Kino and that gave us 5 additional fields, he said, "and then it's putting the big puzzle together."
All told the tournament will have games going on at 12 different locations throughout the city. This will be the 23rd Tucson Association of Realtors shootout. The teams are coming from all over the southwest, including teams from Texas, New Mexico, California, here in Arizona and even one team from Mexico.
The festivities are set to get underway this Friday starting with a picnic at 4 pm and then opening ceremonies at 6:30 pm at Ft. Lowell Park. Games get underway Saturday morning and it all wraps up Sunday afternoon. For more information on the tournament go to http://www.fortlowellshootout.com/
