AVRA VALLEY - Family and friends continue to mourn an Avra Valley woman swept away by floodwaters early Friday.
It happened near Manville and Avra Road.
Angelina Carrasco's husband, Jerry, drove into the flooded wash.
Jerry made it out of the car, but Angelina was swept away in the wash while still inside the car.
We went to the Carrasco home. The family tells us they're heartbroken that such a loving woman could no longer be by their side.
They just can't believe that in an instant, she can be gone.
Angelina's friend Jackie Pesina said Angelina was a good woman. "I am going to miss her dearly," said Pesina.
Family and friends tell us Angelina loved to go to the casino. We're told that's where she and her husband Jerry were heading to when they got stuck in the wash.
Jerry was the driver. He was able to get out of the car, but Angelina's body was later found inside the car, twelve hours later.
An Avra Valley resident we spoke to said Jerry should have never attempted to cross.
"We stay home. We don't want to risk it," he said.
The family said they've heard the criticisms but aren't focusing on that right now.
They've been overcome by emotions recently: Angelina's death, Jerry's pelvis injury from the whole ordeal, and the anniversary of Angelina's son's death.
He died in a car accident three years ago.
