TUCSON - Some Tucson residents are getting pulled over by the cops, but the problem is, they're not real cops.
Tucson Police have gotten reports of some imposters, and they said it's been going on for a while now.
Police said the imposters have been doing this since December. Reports are of a man and a woman pulling cars over, and they look legit with uniforms, gear, and even lights and sirens.
Police said the good news is, so far no one has been robbed or hurt. In fact, police said the imposters have only handed out a few warnings for traffic violations, and in one case broke up a fight.
It almost sounds like they are trying to do good, but police said this is serious, and could lead to some serious punishment.
Chris Widmer from Tucson Police said, "It's illegal and it puts a lot of confusion in people's minds whether they are dealing with police or with someone else."
Punishment for this could be a felony.
Police said if you're ever suspicious of an officer not being a real cop, call 911. You can also ask to see the cop's credentials.
