TUCSON - Baseball fans were treated to a cooling station Friday at Arizona's super regional game hosted at Hi Corbett Field.
ESPN's broadcast schedule dictated the noon game time but fans didn't seem to mind the triple digit temperatures. More than 2,500 fans cheered on the bat cats rallying them to a 7 to 6 victory against the St. John's Red Storm from New York.
The UA provided attendees with a cooling station complete with water, sunscreen, paper fans, iced paper towels and the fan favorite: misters.
Jimmy Nimock, from UA athletics said fans can expect more of the same treatment tomorrow, "Join us again we'll have the same stuff out here. We'll have ice water, ice towels, wear white, bring your bottled bottle in we're not going to turn you away with that."
And the cooling station was ideal for 10-year-old fan Jacob Martinez who was spotted standing in the fan mister enjoying the cool breeze, "it's so cool and cold. It makes me feel like i'm going to be cold during the whole baseball game."
The first 500 fans received free UA baseball t-shirts. The UA is encouraging urging fans to wear white to help keep cool.
Arizona and St. Johns are scheduled to play again on Saturday at noon at Hi Corbett.
