Construction begins on archery range at Naranja Park
Construction has commenced on the fixed-range archery course in Naranja Park, a 213-acre parcel located at 660 W. Naranja Drive in Oro Valley.
A $15,000 grant from the Arizona Game and Fish Department is funding the range site development, and a $16,000 donation from the Pusch Ridge Archers will be used to purchase targets. To stretch donated funds even farther, the Town of Oro Valley will be self-performing the construction work.
Improving 17 miles of State Route 79 between Oracle Junction and Florence, between mileposts 111 and 128
The project will include a chip seal coat to improve asphalt conditions and restriping the roadway. Work is expected to last approximately two months, beginning Tuesday, September 4. During the project, drivers can expect lane restrictions and reduced speed limits through the project corridor. Pilot cars will be used when the roadway is narrowed to one lane. Drivers are reminded to slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
Guardrail work on westbound Interstate 10 east of Tucson near Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road
The Arizona Department of Transportation will close the left lane on westbound Interstate 10, one mile west of the Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road exit from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sep. 20, for guardrail repair.
The schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, availability of materials, and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
Pavement Preservation Projects to Begin September 24 in Arizona City, Eloy Areas
Pinal County Public Works crews will be placing an Asphalt Dust Rock Palliative (ADRP) layer on four stretches of road in the Arizona City and Eloy areas. ADRP is similar to a chip seal and it is used to smooth and renew the road surface while cutting down on dust. Work will begin September 24.
These pavement preservation projects will use a combined total of 186,550 square yards of material to resurface approximately 22.7 lane miles of improved road. The project will use almost 2800 tons of chip and 357 tons of oil. The ADRP will lengthen the life of the road while also helping improve air quality by minimizing dust.
The roads to be affected by the pavement preservation project include:
• Hanna Road from Curry Road to La Palma
• Battaglia Drive from La Palma Road to State Route 87
• Sunland Gin Road from Greene Reservoir Road to Harmon Road
• Harmon Road from Sunshine Boulevard to Picacho Highway
