Downtown
• ADVANCED NOTICE: During the Month of September, crews will begin installing track on Congress Street from west of Fifth Avenue to east of Stone Avenue.
• During the week of September 10, 2012 construction crews will deliver rail and form the track bed on Congress Street, between Sixth and Stone Avenues.
• During the week of September 17, 2012 construction crews will embed the rail in concrete along Congress Street between Sixth and Stones Avenues. Crews will also deliver sections of rail and form the track bed along the Congress Street block between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
• During the week of September 24, the contractor will prepare Congress Street, between Sixth and Stone Avenues for paving the first layer of asphalt and will concrete embed the rail on the Congress Street block between Fifth and Sixth Streets.
• On Sunday, September 9, traffic on Granada Avenue, between Congress and Cushing Streets will be shifted to the northbound lanes of Granada Avenue, providing one lane of travel in each direction along this section of roadway. Access to the Federal Court complex and the Tucson Convention Center will be maintained.
• The closure of the southbound lanes of Granada Avenue is expected to be in place at least through December 2012, while the contractor completes underground utility work, rail placement and installation of the Overhead Contact System (OCS). Most work along this section of roadway will take place over night between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.
Fourth Avenue and University Boulevard
• On Saturday, September 8, from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. the contractor will concrete embed the sections of rail along Eighth Street, between Fourth Avenue and the Maintenance and Storage Facility located west of Fifth Street.
• Parking will not be allowed on either side of Eighth Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues, during this operation.
• Weather permitting, paving for this section of roadway is scheduled for Saturday, September 15.
• During the week of September 10, the contractor will complete roadway paving preparations on University Boulevard, between Third and Euclid Avenues. Paving along this portion of roadway is expected to begin the following week, weather permitting.
• During the week of September 10, the contractor will continue roadway preparations for rail placement along Fourth Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Street.
U of A and Health Sciences Center
• On Friday, September 14, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning, pave Second Street from Highland to Warren Avenues.
• The intersection of Cherry Avenue and Second Street has been re-opened to north and southbound vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
• East and westbound travel is not permitted along Second Street between Highland and Warren Avenues while the contractor completes the installation of rail and paves the roadway. This portion of Second Street is expected to be open to travel on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
This week's schedule for overnight paving and ramp work on I-10 between Valencia Road and Rita Road in Tucson
The Arizona Department of Transportation continues repaving a segment of Interstate 10 in Tucson. Crews will intermittently close one lane and the entrance and exit ramps on eastbound and westbound I-10 nightly from Rita Road to Valencia Road between Sunday, Sept. 9 and 7 a.m. Friday Sept. 14. Overnight work will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning as follows:

• The right lane on eastbound I-10 will be closed from Valencia Road to Wilmot Road.
• The eastbound I-10 entrance ramp at Craycroft Road will be closed.
• The right lane on westbound I-10 from Wilmot Road to Valencia Road will be closed.
• The westbound exit ramp at Craycroft Road will be closed.
Monday, Sept.10
• The right lane on westbound I-10 will be closed from Wilmot Road to Valencia Road.
• The westbound I-10 entrance ramp at Craycroft Road will be closed.
• The right lane on eastbound I-10 will be closed from Craycroft Road to Kolb Road.

Thursday, Sept. 13
• The right lane on eastbound I-10 will be closed from Wilmot Road to Rita Road.
• The eastbound I-10 exit ramp at Kolb Road will be closed.
• The eastbound I-10 entrance ramp at Kolb Road will be closed.
• The right lane on westbound I-10 will be closed from Wilmot Road to Valencia Road
During the ramp closures, drivers may use the eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps at the adjacent intersections. Message boards and signs will guide drivers through the area.
The work is part of ADOT's $3.4 million project for continued improvements on I-10 that includes removing the existing top layer of pavement, repairing the concrete pavement beneath the top layer, applying a new, smooth driving surface with rubberized asphalt, installing new roadway markings and reconstructing guardrails along this segment of the highway.
State Route 79 between Oracle Junction and Florence
The Arizona Department of Transportation will be improving 17 miles between mileposts 111 and 128.
The project will include a chip seal coat to improve asphalt conditions and restriping the roadway. Work is expected to last approximately two months, beginning Tuesday, September 4.
During the project, drivers can expect lane restrictions and reduced speed limits through the project corridor. Pilot cars will be used when the roadway is narrowed to one lane. Drivers are reminded to slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
