GRANT ROAD / ORACLE ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
On Monday, July 16, 2012, work will begin on improvements to the Grant Road and Oracle Road Intersection. During the first phase of the intersection improvement project, crews from Falcone Brothers & Associates, Inc., under contract to the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will remove the median islands on Grant Road. Intersection work will also include the installation of temporary traffic signals. Traffic will be restricted to two lanes in each direction. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The project is scheduled to be complete in July 2013.
Please use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in the work area. Please obey all traffic control devices and water for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
The $7.5 million RTA-Funded project will widen Grant Road to six lanes from 15th Avenue to Castro Street, with median island right-turn lane modifications along Oracle Road from Alturas Street south to Rillito Street. As part of the roadway widening, the intersection of Grant Road and Oracle road will be reconstructed to provide indirect left turn intersection operations.
FINAL PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION SABINO CANYON ROAD/TANQUE VERDE ROAD INTERSECTION
Beginning Monday, July 16, 2012, crews from Southern Arizona Paving, under contract with Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin milling, crack-sealing, and paving the intersection improvement area. The milling and paving work will be done at night. Crews will be working from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Crack-sealing work will be done during the daytime hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Business access will be maintained at all times.
Once paving is completed crews will adjust the water valve covers and manhole covers flush with the new asphalt. During this work, concrete will be poured around the covers and barricades will be in place for 24 hours to allow the concrete to cure.
This phase of the project is expected to take approximately three weeks. This is the last phase of construction. Substantial completion is scheduled for the end of July.
Please use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in the work area. Please obey all traffic control devices and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
TANGERINE RD. TRAFFIC ALERT
Beginning July 22 and continuing through July 27, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. each day, construction crews will be fog sealing Tangerine Road from the Union Pacific Railroad to Thornydale Road.
During the operations, pilot vehicles will escort motorists through the construction zone. Motorists may be required to stop for as long as 20 minutes. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph through the construction zone.
For your safety and that of the construction workers, please comply with all traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs.
Please be aware of construction activities during the course of this project. Your commute and travel time may increase, so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.
If inclement weather or other events cause delays, the work may be rescheduled without further notice.
Improvements to the Town of Marana's roadways may cause a temporary inconvenience. We appreciate your patience as we improve the community.
