EIGHTH STREET DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
This is the last in a series of traffic alerts that has been issued throughout the construction of the Downtown Links - Eighth Street Drainage Improvement project. The alerts announce construction, detour and street closure information as it affects traffic.
The Eighth Street Drainage Improvement project limits extend from Sixth Avenue on the west to Third Avenue on the east and Sixth Street on the north to Stevens Avenue on the south. Work throughout the improvement area will necessitate multiple street closures and restrictions that will impact motorists and bicyclists.
Business and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work area.
On Tuesday, May 15 through Friday, May 18, the contractor will pave, place roadway markings and make utility adjustments on Eighth Street between Fifth and Hoff Avenues. Traffic on Fourth Avenue will be maintained.
This paving/striping operation along Eighth Street completes the work for the Eight Street Drainage Improvement Project. Thank you to the businesses, residents and traveling public for your patience and cooperation during this project.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message boards, and obey reduced speed limits. Watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.
PARK AVENUE AT 22ND STREET
Beginning Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 5 a.m. until Friday, May 25, 2012 at 4 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the west side of Park Avenue from 22nd Street to 26th Street. The travel restrictions will be in place to allow work crews from Borderland Construction to install a new sewer manhole and sewer pipe in the roadway. Restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists driving in this area can expect traffic delays during this work. Business access will be maintained. The traveling public should use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in this area. Please watch for construction personnel and equipment in the area and obey all traffic control signs.
Pavement preservation work continues on State Route 77 in Pinal County
The Arizona Department of Transportation will intermittently close sections of State Routes 77 and 79 and US 60 in Pinal County during the next two months to apply oil to rejuvenate and preserve the roadway surface.
What to expect on Tuesday (May 15), Wednesday (May 16) and Friday (May 18):
• Segments of northbound and southbound SR 77, east of the community of Oracle, will be intermittently closed for approximately three miles from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Alternating traffic will be directed through the work zone by construction crews using a pilot vehicle.
• Drivers should expect up to 10 minute delays and are advised to plan ahead.
Crews will be on site to direct traffic and message boards will guide drivers through the area.
