EIGHTH STREET DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
The Eighth Street Drainage Improvement limits extend from Sixth Avenue on the west to Third Avenue on the east and Sixth Street on the north to Stevens Avenue on the South.
Work throughout the improvement area will necessitate multiple street closures and restrictions that will impact motorists and bicyclists.
Business and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work area.
Beginning at 2 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 through Thursday, April 19, 2012, the contractor will stripe the parking areas along Third Avenue, Seventh Street and Fifth Avenue. Parking in the following areas will be interrupted during the striping operation:
· Third Avenue, between Sixth and Eighth Streets.
· Seventh Street, between Sixth and Third Avenues.
· Fifth Avenue, between Sixth and Eighth Streets.
Eighth Street, between Fifth and Fourth Avenues and Hoff and Fourth Avenue is closed. The closure is expected to be in place through the end of April. The intersection of
Fourth Avenue/Eighth Street is open to two-way traffic.
Stevens Avenue from Ninth Street to Fifth Avenue will remain closed through early May.
The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in the work area. For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage and message boards, and obey reduced speed limits. Watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone
Pavement maintenance along State Route 83 south of Sonoita on Tuesday, April 17
Drivers can expect delays of up to 25 minutes
The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to apply rejuvenating oil to the roadway surface of State Route 83 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday (April 17) between Lyle Canyon Road (milepost 7) and Old Parker Canyon Lake Road (milepost 12). One lane will remain open at all times and crews will direct traffic through the work zone. Drivers can expect delays of up to 25 minutes during work hours.
The schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, availability of materials, and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
