A warehouse near Huachuca City is overflowing with homeless cats from various hoarding cases in the area.
"What we're engaged with now is the rescue of a large hoardiing situation." said Glenn Baxter, President of the Cochise Humane Society.
The Cochise County Humane Society has partnered with a number of organizations to care for and place each of the animals.
The Humane Society parntered with the Animal Rural Klinic and PetSmart to care for the animals. A.R.K. donated the warehouse space to currently house 40 cats, while PetSmart donated supplies and volunteers to help set up for incoming animals.
The Humane Society is expecting an additional 50 cats to arrive by the end of the week.
"Due to the scope of this particular operation we did not have the resources to do something like this with approximately 100 cats...we've never done this," said Robin Redding of the Cochise Humane Society.
"We barely have enough volunteers to handle the cats that we have right now...with another fifty coming...we don't have enough people," Redding added.
An adoption day is being planned within the next 10 days. Anyone interested in adopting or sponsoring one of the animals can call 520-378-2109.
