TEMPE - The CDO Softball team claimed its second straight state title and fifth in the last six years with an 11-9 win over Sunrise Mountain in eight innings on Monday night at Farrington Stadium.

CDO broke a 4-4 tie in the 4th inning, taking an 8-4 lead on a grand slam by Sammi Noland.

Down 9-5 and down to their final strike in the bottom of the 7th, Sunrise Mountain connected on a grand slam of its own to knot the game at 9 and send it to extra innings.

In the top of the 8th, Kayla Bonstrom put CDO up for good with a two-run homer and then ended the game in the bottom half of the inning with a strikeout.
