As Tucson continues to try and improve bicyclists ability to get around in the city there are spots where bike and car still don't co-exist very well.
Campbell Avenue is known for having very good bike lanes from one end to the other.
But having enough room along the side of the road isn't the issue at the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Grant Road, the problem occurs when car and rider cross paths.
The trouble spot is here where bicyclists have to merge in order to continue traveling north on Campbell. There is a sign south of the intersection that instructs drivers to yield to bikes. But the sign is blocked by tree overgrowth.
Melissa mills was riding her bike down Campbell last week when she had a close encounter with an oblivious driver. "A car that was turning right didn't yield to me and hit me and knocked me off my bike", said Mills, "it kept going, nobody else stopped. and when I got up off the ground the car was already gone."
Fortunately Mills was only banged up. She says something needs to be done.
Tucson traffic released the following statement, "The Tucson Department of Transportation will review the signing and striping at the intersection of Campbell and Grant this week".
Trimming and painting will help but other cyclists, like Matt Sorensen, say the real problem is the people behind the wheel. "It's careless driving and it's really busy and people are in a hurry", Sorensen said, "I just think they aren't looking where they are going because so much is going on".
