PATAGONIA - A bear broke into a fridge at Cross Creek Cottages Thursday.
The fridge was not inside a building.
Rick Marshall works there and had to clean up the mess.
"I'll see a mountain lion, every once in a while, or a bobcat or coyotes," Marshall said, "but I've never seen a bear before."
Marshall performs maintenance, feeds animals and anything else needed on the property.
"It's kind of scary in a way, because you don't know," he said, "a lot of times, you have to come out here at night and look at the animals, or take care of this, take care of that in the dark."
He poured sand in front of the fridge to check for bear tracks in the morning.
"I hope the bear stays home," Marshall said.
The bear is not yet considered a threat, according to Mark Hart with the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
They hope the bear will not be a recurring problem now that the easy-access food is gone.
