TUCSON - A baby was found in the bathroom of Northwest Medical Center Tuesday afternoon. Pima County Sheriff's deputies are at the hospital.

PCSD officials at the hospital confirm to our crew on scene that the baby is being medically evaluated, but appears to be in good health.

Northwest Medical Center serves as a "Safe Haven" center for newborns. For babies under 72 hours old to be dropped off anonymously, Arizona law requires the baby to be voluntarily delivered to a "safe haven provider." Under the law, a safe haven provider means one of the following: a firefighter on duty, an on-duty emergency medical technician, a health care institution staff member, or a staff member or volunteer at either a private child welfare agency, an adoption agency, or a church.

This is the second found baby reported in just over a month. On October 23, a newborn baby was found abandoned in a duffel bag outside the manager's room of a northside apartment complex.
