TUCSON - In today's Arts and Culture segment, contributor Herb Stratford has a preview of music, movies and exhibits.

Arizona Opera presents the classic Puccini opera 'Tosca' which tells the tale of love and political corruption in 19th Century Rome this weekend at the TCC Music Hall.

Floria Tosca, a raven-haired force of nature, faces off against the sadistic Baron Scarpia, chief of Rome's secret police. The tempestuous diva is passionately in love with Mario, a political dissident. But when Scarpia tortures Mario for his politics, Tosca is forced to choose between Mario's life and yielding to Scarpia's desire for her.

UApresents hosts the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at Centennial Hall on Friday night, February 1. Performing works by Greig, Prokofiev and Top, the 88-member orchestra is one of Canada's most successful performing arts groups, playing to annual audiences in excess of 200,000 at home. Don't miss this one-night-only performance.

A new exhibit of glass artwork is on display at the Philabaum Gallery. Work from Tucsonans Michael Joplin and Mark Abildgaard is on display through April 13 at the gallery, located at 711 South 6th Avenue.

Now here's a look at this week's new movies:
A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human - setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Sylvester Stallone stars as Jimmy Bobo, a New Orleans hitman who forms an alliance with Washington D.C. detective Taylor Kwon to bring down the killer of their respective partners. From director Walter Hill comes the action thriller "Bullet to the Head."

STAND UP GUYS stars Academy Award winners Al Pacine, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin in a tough but touching action comedy as retired gangsters who reunite for one epic last night.
Val (Al Pacino) is released from prison after serving twenty-eight years for refusing to give up one of his close criminal associates. His best friend Doc (Christopher Walken) is there to pick him up, and the two soon re-team with another old pal, Hirsch (Alan Arkin). Their bond is as strong as ever, and the three reflect on freedom lost and gained, loyalties ebbed and flowed, and days of glory gone by. And despite their age, their capacity for mayhem is still very much alive and well - bullets fly as they make a hilariously valiant effort to compensate for the decades of crime, drugs and sex they've missed.
