TUCSON - As the ongoing development of the North End Zone Project continues at Arizona Stadium, News 4 Tucson has learned of one of the new amenities which will be unveiled for the 2013 season.
Artifical turf, commonly known as field turf, will be installed at the stadium, replacing the grass-sod surfaces which have been in place since the venue opened in the late 19th century.
The new surface will make the stadium more of a multi-purpose facility and will allow the Wildcats to use it for practices.
The company handling the turf project hasn't been officially named, but it's likely going to be headed by Trey Rogers who is a Professor of Turfgrass Management at Michigan State University. Rogers was a turf consultant and project leader for the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
