Ajo - The man arrested for having bombs inside his house could now face federal charges.
According to sheriff's officials, John David Ford told them he was making "adult fireworks."
The 38-year-old Ford is sitting inside the Pima County Jail along with 26 year old Becky Leon who was arrested for tampering with evidence.
Investigators say they found bomb making materials in the residence.
A bomb squad robot was used to search the home. One of the pipe bombs exploded unintentionally.
Also found were military surface to air missile simulators known as "Smoky SAMs". They're used for training pilots. Lt. John Stuckey with the Pima Regional Bomb Squad says "It's made out of Styrofoam is it likely to seriously injure somebody probably not but you never know."
At least 3 smoky Sam's appeared in Ajo some on the side of the road. Witnesses place Ford at the launch site of the "Smoky SAM's".
Investigators aren't saying where Ford obtained these items but what they are saying, "There is no indication that there's terrorist activity or intent to harm or injure anyone."
Even though there was no indication that he was going to harm people. The state allows 4 oz of explosives for model rockets but Ford had more than 4 times that amount in his possession.
