Posted 6:33 AM 11/12/2012 : Fourth Ave. boutique needs your help to feed the hungry this holiday season
TUCSON- Alok Appadurai is a busy man these days.
He's the co-owner of "Fed by Threads", a local company that makes sustainable clothing for all ages. "It's 100% made in the United States, combined with only using sustainable fabrics," Appadurai says.
Besides helping the environment, the clothes are also part of a much greater cause.
Appadurai says since the boutique officially opened last May sales have helped generate about 8,000 meals for the hungry. "The donations go to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and a national coalition of hunger relief organizations," Appadurai says.
Now that the holidays are fast-approaching, Appadurai hopes to see even more sales, so they can help more people.
Fed by Threads is hosting a grand-opening on Saturday, November 17 from noon until 6pm. It is located at 435 East 9th Street. It's at the corner of 4th Avenue and 9th Street.
