SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. - Fire crews have extinguished the structure fire that severely burned two houses in Sierra Vista and did minor damage to a third.
Sierra Vista Fire Department officials tell News 4 Tucson that the fire started in the house pictured above, then spread to the others, doing significant damage to one house and minimal damage to the exterior of another.
News 4 Tucson meteorologist Jeff Beamish says winds in Sierra Vista peaked as high as 65 miles per hour earlier this afternoon, and that this may well have been a contributing factor in the spread of the fire.
The fire was sparked at about 10:30 a.m. today in the 200 block of Whitton Street, near Fry Boulevard and Buffalo Soldier Trail.
Officials say no one has been injured. An approximate damage estimate is not yet available, and officials are still investigating the cause.
