Tangerine Sky Park opens Friday in Marana

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON – A new park is coming to the town of Marana.

The park, which has been in the works for several years, covers 17 acres and has 3100 feet of walking paths.

Other amenities include playgrounds, a basketball court, a dog park, and a zip line.

Prior to the park's completion, a survey was released, asking residents what their priorities for the park were. Organizers said walking paths were a high priority when designing the park.

“I think that is reflective of the people who live in Marana, who are looking for a high quality of life," Jim Conroy, the Director of Marana Parks and Recreation said, "Fitness and wellness is part of that."

The $4.1 million project was paid for by the town of Marana through its park impact fee program.

Tangerine Sky Park opens Friday, Aug. 10, to the public.
