Man arrested for attempting to lure a minor

Posted: Updated:

A Chandler man accused of planning to engage in sexual acts with an underage girl was arrested in Pinal County, according to a news release.

Authorities said Miles Valencia, 31, thought he was talking to a 14-year-old girl on a social media application this morning, but it was actually an undercover detective.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said within 10 minutes the man sent inappropriate pictures and said he would engage in sexual acts with the detective posing as a minor.

Officials said the man drove to Pinal County to meet the girl, but he was met by detectives and arrested.

Investigators believe Valencia reached out to other children online.

The Pinal County Sheriff said this is an important reminder for parents to keep a watchful eye over their children’s online activity.

“Please monitor all social media accounts and apps. Predators are even lurking on gaming programs. So talk to your children, know who they are talking to and know who is commenting and liking their posts and pictures,” said Sheriff Mark Lamb.

Valencia is facing several charges including Luring and Aggravated Luring of a Minor along with Attempted Sexual Conduct of a Minor.
