Some say Jack in the Box's new "Bowls" ad offensive

Posted: Updated:

Fast food chain Jack in the Box is throwing a wild ard at consumers with a new advertising campaign.

But the company is also drawing a penalty card, from some who say the commercial is offensive.

The television spot features the chain's mascot promoting the restaurant's new teriyaki bowls.

The thing is, every time someone says the word "bowls" they are clearly hinting at male genitalia, not food. Some have criticized the ad as tone-deaf, coming at a time when more people are speaking out about sexual harassment.

The company said their intention is not to diminish the importance of the me- too movement.

Jack in the Box says the ad reflects the playful sense of humor that has long been a part of their brand.
