Local salons help teachers kick off school year in style

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - At the start of every school year, students flock to hair stylists around Tucson to start the new year with a new look.

This year, two local salons helped kick off the school year not only with scissors, but pencils and notebooks as well.

Gadabout Salon and Spas, and VerVe Salons gave out 130 bags full of school supplies Wednesday morning. The supplies included copy paper, pencils, cleaning wipes, dry erase markers and other needed items.

The employees gave the bag to school-aged kids, who then gifted the supplies to their teachers.

"Gadabout and Verve never cease to amaze me with the things that they come up with," Adriana Gerardo Mendoza, VerVe Salons general manager said. I know that this is Frank's real passion to see this come to life so I'm not surprised but it makes me so proud to be apart of a community that does so much for Tucson and I love that it sets the standard for what's to come in our community here."

Officials said each bag had a handwritten note for the teachers.
