TPD investigating body found in Tucson wash

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON -- Tucson police are investigating after a woman's body was found in a wash in the central part of town Wednesday morning.

According to a nearby neighbor, two cyclists passing by spotted the body in a wash near Pima Street and Rosemont Blvd. at around 6:30 a.m. and called 911.

Police say the woman in her 30's was visiting her family from out of town. On Tuesday evening the woman's family called police after they weren't able to get a hold of her.

"Yesterday evening they used a find my friend app and they found her vehicle it was at 10th and Woodland," Raymon Smith Tucson Police Public Information Officer said.

Her vehicle parked next to the wash just miles down from where her body would be found the next day. For now police don't suspect foul play but they say the rain waters filled the wash Tuesday night.

"This could be a possible drowning at this point we just don't know. We still have to get the autopsy to determine that...If you see a wash, obviously you don't know how deep it is. If it doesn't look that deep you don't know how fast the water's traveling and you can get caught up in the rip tide there really quickly. So don't cross. If it looks dangerous stay, away from the washes," Smith said.

Tucson police are still investigating. If you know anything about this woman's death your asked to call 88-crime to remain anonymous or call 9-11.
