Mi Nidito's armed-robbery suspect appears in court

UPDATE - The South Tucson Police Department released security footage from Wednesday's armed robbery at Mi Nidito. 


UPDATE - The suspect involved in Wednesday's armed robbery at Mi Nidito has been identified.

Jerry Evan Madril, 30, appeared in court Thursday morning. 

Madril is charged with one count of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of burglary in the first-degree. He also had a felony warrant on an old DUI charge.

He is on a $50,000 bond. 


SOUTH TUCSON - The South Tucson Police Department said they responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11.

Officials say a Hispanic male attempted to rob Mi Nidito Restaurant, near 29th Street and Fourth Avenue at knife point.

Patrons inside the restaurant say the suspect demanded money and then attempted to slash employees and patrons with a box knife. 

Two employees took the man down but sustained non-life threatening injuries. One cook was taken to the hospital to receive medical care. 

The suspect is in custody, and no further details have been released.
