UPDATE: Marana Police are investigating a package of suspected narcotics found on the derailed train.

According to Jeff DeGraff with Union Pacific, there was no identifying packaging and it was turned over to Marana Police for destruction.

Sources tell News 4 Tucson that less than fifty pounds of marijuana were found in a shipping container. The shipping container was from a common carrier, UPS, FedEx or US Mail.

At this moment is unknown which one.

No further details have been released.

UPDATE: Crews continue working Thursday morning to clean up after Tuesday's wreck on I-10 at Twin Peaks.

Jeff DeGraff with Union Pacific says crews worked overnight and are expected to reopen the track Thursday afternoon, unless there are weather-related delays or unexpected issues.

Crews will continue working at the site removing containers and clearing debris.

UPDATE: Crews are still working Wednesday morning to clean up the wreckage area from Tuesday’s train derailment.

Union Pacific says heavy rain from Monsoon may have caused 27 freight cars to jump off the track and on the east side of the I-10 frontage road between Twin Peaks and Marana Roads Tuesday afternoon.

The cleanup could take up to two days.

There were no reported injuries in the train derailment.

Matthew O’Connor with UPS released the following statement in regards to the accident.

The packages that were not impacted by the train derailment are continuing on to their destinations. UPS is identifying the impacted packages and notifying the shippers so that contingency plans for those deliveries can be implemented, and the recipients can be notified of the delay and next steps.

?Drivers are still advised to avoid the area.
