Active Monsoon pattern settles in

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Thunder rolls to start the work week.

Ample moisture and a mid-level disturbance team up for scattered storm development today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Metro Tucson stands a 60% chance of storms, primarily between 12-5 PM. Areas west of the metro stand the best chance of widespread storms, while storms will be more miss than hit east of Tucson.

Gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall and blowing dust are the primary threats with storms today.

Rain chances decrease to 20% from the dinner hour through the overnight hours. Highs today peak around 100, followed by lows in the mid 70s.

Scattered storms may return tomorrow and Wednesday. The thunder threat decreases some late week into the upcoming weekend as highs reach the mid to upper 90s. Rain chances range from 20% Thursday and Friday to 30% this weekend.
