Want storms? Head east!

TUCSON - Models giveth, Mother Nature taketh away.

Dry air is set to win the battle of the Monsoon heading into the weekend, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. There's still a chance for isolated storms east of Tucson this afternoon, where enough moisture will be present. For the Old Pueblo, mostly sunny skies are on tap as highs reach the 100s for the 29th time this year.

Storm chances area-wide shut down by tomorrow, courtesy of southwesterly winds aloft. As rain chances fade, temperatures heat up. Temperatures this weekend peak in the 100-102° range.

4th of July week looks dry and hot for Metro Tucson. The best bet for any storms for the holiday week appears to be confined to the White Mountains Tuesday through Thursday. Valley floors likely remain dry.
