Tucson Parks and Rec host annual summer track and field events

TUCSON - If you're looking for something to do this summer is to stay active, the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department might be able to help. 

Every Tuesday and Thursday, from June 12th through July 17th, they will be hosting their annual summer track and field road race event. 

The event will take place at Drachman Stadium located at 501 South Plumer Avenue. 

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the meet begins promptly at 6 p.m. 

Events include:

  • Long jump.
  • Turbo javelin (18 and under).
  • Shot put.
  • 50 meter dash (5 and under).
  • 100 meter run.
  • 200 meter run.
  • 300 meter run.
  • 400 meter run.
  • 800 meter run.
  • 1,600 meter run.
  • 3,200 meter run.
  • 4 x 100 relay.
  • 4 x 400 relay.

    The National Weather Service currently reported dusty conditions moving through the Tucson Metro Area Saturday evening. NWS says this is due to a plume of dust and sand from Sonora Mexico earlier this afternoon.  This plume made it's way into southeast Arizona earlier Saturday evening.
