The Tucson Police Department is extending hours at four substations across the city.
The locations include:
• Operations Division South - 4410 S. Park Ave (520) 791-4949
• Operations Division West - 1310 W. Miracle Mile (520) 791-4467
• Operations Division Midtown - 1100 S. Alvernon Way (520) 791-4253
• Operations Division East - 9670 E. Golf Links Rd. (520) 791-5700
The four locations will now be open seven days a week, from 8 AM to 10 PM. They were previously open five days a week, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
“If somebody has a report they want to make after work, they can stop in at a station,” said Officer Chris Hawkins. “They can also make reports online or over the phone if they'd like to do that.”
The extra hours will be manned by a combination of officers, community service officers and volunteers. This type of reporting is for non-emergency crimes, like theft or fraud.
Officials said the goal of the extension is to make it easier and faster for people to file those types of reports.
“It can take less time on their end and it can make us a little more efficient,” said Ofc. Hawkins. “If we don't have to take time to respond to someone's physical address and they can come to us and have the time and opportunity to do that.”
