Raising red flags again

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of southern Arizona today. This is in effect from 11 AM until 8 PM.

Southwest winds gust up to 30 MPH this afternoon, combining with low relative humidity and dry vegetation. Any spark could lead to a large wildfire in a short amount of time. Outdoor burning is not recommended today.

Drivers on I-10 should expect blowing dust around Picacho Peak & the Willcox Playa this afternoon.

Highs peak in the low 90s today under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures drop off 10-15° for tomorrow's highs, as a cold front clips northern Arizona. Areas east of Tucson remain breezy Tuesday, where a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect.

Late in the week, another cold front is slated to sweep through the state. Gusty wind may redevelop as soon as Thursday, followed by another 10° drop in highs on Friday.
