PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot by Phoenix police after he allegedly fired at them with a rifle and handgun.
Police say 44-year-old Eduardo Andrade was declared dead at the scene of the shooting Saturday afternoon.
They say officers were dispatched to investigate a crash involving a possibly impaired driver.
When officers arrived, they located a damaged vehicle in a field with the driver inside.
As officers approached, they could see a rifle near the driver and told him not to touch it.
Police say the man ignored the officers' commands and began shooting with a rifle and then a handgun.
Officers returned fire and found the man dead inside the vehicle.
Police say they've recovered a rifle and a handgun from the scene.
