Angel Charity gives kids chance to dress up

TUCSON -

Families perused boxes stuffed with glittering prom dresses and racks full of evening wear to find outfits for special occasions for free.

The clothing comes from the "Bags, Baubles and Ball Gowns" event, a fundraiser held by Angel Charity, which happened on Thursday night.

Over 2,200 dresses were donated by community members for the evening's event. Clothes, shoes and pants were sold at a reasonable price to raise money for local charities.

Unsold items were saved for Saturday morning to be donated to groups such as Boys & Girls Club of America, the YMCA and Youth on their Own.

"With the leftovers today, we've invited social service agencies to come in and get some dresses for proms, graduations, special occasions," said Carla Keegan, the 2018 general chair of Angel Charity. "These kids... don't have the wherewithal to go out and buy things, but they want to feel special and pretty."
