Many stroke survivors don't get enough help when it comes to taking medication.

That's according to a new British study of 600 stroke patients. One in ten said they needed more help with picking up medicine, opening the packaging, and being reminded to take their pills.

As a result, one-third of patients said they had missed one or more doses in the past 30 days.

New drug for high cholesterol

There's some good news for people with very* high cholesterol.

A French study found the injectable drug Praluent reduced rates of heart attack, stroke, and even death, by 15-percent compared to a placebo. The drug's effect was even greater for patients at highest risk. Researchers said they will use the findings to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of Praluent.

One obstacle is that the drug is extremely expensive and is often not covered by insurance.

Ostrich good for your health

They're a formidable opponent if ever challenged but farmers and physicians alike agree that ostriches are a treasure trove of health benefits.

Ostrich oil is said to contain omega three and six, as well as nine fatty acids, known to have therapeutic benefits for the heart, hair, skin, and nails.

The natural oil can also be used to soothe aches and pains in the neck or muscles, as well as easing joint pain.
