Some Wildcat fans left stunned by NCAA selection committee decision

Posted: Updated:

But the reality of a 4-seed in the South and a trip to Boise for a Thursday night matchup against Buffalo has some fans confused and others upset.

"I just don't think the committee gave the PAC-12 any love," UA 1996 graduate Mike Kintner said.

"I'm not happy about it," Don Robnett said. "They should have been in San Diego. Winning the PAC-12 tournament, they should have been a 3 not a 4. I mean they beat everybody, ASU, UCLA and USC and they're going to Boise, really?"

Some fans argue the bribery allegations leveled against UA head coach Sean Miller in the last couple of weeks had an impact on the selection committee.

"I feel that we've already gotten over this hump that we've been dealing with the last two weeks," Robnett said. "We've gotten over it. But somehow it's bringing us down."

"It's part scandal, too, with everything that's surrounding us," UA senior Cassidy Peeples said.

Kintner believes the Wildcats have a legitimate chance to pave a path to San Antonio and get to the Final Four.

"We make it out of this bracket in the South, I think we win the whole tournament, absolutely," he said. "Just like we did with the Pac-12 Tournament. I believe in these Wildcats. Nobody's seen DeAndre Ayton yet out there across the country. We got to bear down, man. Bear down, always."

U of A takes on Buffalo on Thursday night in Boise. Game time is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
