Police: Body found; man arrested in killing of ex-girlfriend

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a 20-year-old man is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, a young mother whose infant was found abandoned in a car seat by the side of a street.

Police say a burned body tentatively identified as 21-year-old Jasmine Dunbar was found Wednesday during a search in western Glendale after police interviewed her ex-boyfriend, Antwaun Travon Ware.

Family members had told police that Dunbar and her 7-month-old daughter were last seen Tuesday night with Ware, and the child was found about an hour later after motorists reported seeing the child along a street several miles away.

Ware is jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder, kidnapping, abandonment of a body and child abuse.

Online court records don't indicate he has an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
