Police nab armed robbery suspect after high-speed chase

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX - Phoenix police followed a car in connection to an armed robbery in the southwest Valley Tuesday.

A blue Audi made its way through west Phoenix, traveling westbound on McDowell Road near the 101 at one point, then later eastbound on Buckeye Road near Van Buren Street.

Aerial footage showed a passenger exit the vehicle and run on foot in an apartment complex in the middle of the pursuit.

The driver of the blue Audi later got out of the car near 107th Avenue and Van Buren Street and carjacked a white pickup truck from a woman. The woman was seen running from the intersection. Police took a man and woman who were also in the Audi into custody.

A suspect, which appeared to be a man from the aerial footage, continued to flee in the truck and entered the I-10, traveling east.

The white pickup truck then started heading west on I-10 before making its way to the central Phoenix area.

After avoiding stop sticks and spike strips, the driver of the white pickup stopped driving and ran into an apartment near 17th Avenue and Mountain View Road. Police were quick to take him into custody.
