Warmest Winter ever recorded in Tucson

TUCSON - Thanks La Niña.

Cooler than normal waters in the eastern Pacific led to a warm Winter in the Old Pueblo. According to the National Weather Service, Tucson's average Winter temp was 58°. This was nearly 5° above normal and goes down as the warmest average Winter temp recorded in Tucson.

If it wasn't for the 10th wettest February on record, this Winter would have been remarkably dry as well.

Between December 1st and February 28th, the rain gauge at Tucson International Airport received 2.48". While this mark was the 49th wettest on record for the Old Pueblo, Winter 2017-18 rainfall came in 0.25" below normal.

Of the 2.48" rainfall this Winter, 1.96" of it fell in the last few weeks of February. Between Valentine's Day and February 16th, 1.70" rain fell at TUS, marking the 5th wettest three day stretch during the month of February.
