A taxi driver has died after a late-night crash in Phoenix last week that police say was caused by a drunk driver.

Blaze Franklin, 26, has been arrested and faces aggravated assault charges after 42-year-old Santiago Maya died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Late the night of Feb. 6, Franklin tried to turn left from Thomas Road on to 57th Avenue in front of Maya's taxi, which was headed west on Thomas, police said. The cars collided.

Franklin and Maya were both hospitalized and Maya's passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Franklin was released from the hospital Thursday and booked into Maricopa County Jail. Police said he also was booked for prior DUI warrants.
