911 calls released in kidnapping case

Posted: Updated:

Authorities released the 911 calls from the moments after police said a man stole a car with a 2-year-old boy inside, last December.

In one call, the woman tells the emergency operator that the suspect drove off with her child in the vehicle.

Later, a witness called 911 to report that she almost saw the child get hit by a car near 22nd St. and Kolb. The same caller said the child was unable to direct her to his parents.

Police were able to rescue the child and reunite him with his parents a short time later.

Officers were also able to find the car and arrest the suspect, Anthony Garcia. He is now facing kidnapping, child abuse, theft and burglary charges.
