9-year-old girl from Chandler wins $30,000 for impacting crowdfunding project

Being kind can be impactful and make a significance difference. A Chandler 9-year-old, who just won a $30,000 cash award, proves it.

12 News interviewed 9-year-old entrepreneur Charlotte Gould in December.

Charlotte was born with a cleft lip and palate. This motivated her to make surgery companion dolls to bring comfort and a smile to children who are undergoing surgery like she did.

Charlotte's mother had entered Charlotte in the "Imagine If, With Jif" contest hosted by Jif without her daughter knowing.

The contest would be showcasing a child who had the most successful and impactful crowdfunding project.

And guess what?

"I am the winner of the "Imagine If, With Jif" contest," Charlotte said.

Because of her dedication and passion, she was awarded a total of $30,000 to expand her business, Stitches by Charlotte.

"I get to grow Stitches by Charlotte and hopefully make a lot of kids smile," she said.

Already, she has sold about 150 dolls including to people from Canada, Mexico and almost every state in the United States.

"I'm always so happy to see a little kid smile holding my doll," Charlotte said.

Charlotte hopes that with the money she will be able to a create a kid-friendly instruction and tools to add "stitches" in the likeness of each kiddos surgery.
