You’ll also need to take a car seat safety class on Saturday, Feb. 17, at TPD West Side 1310 W. Miracle Mile.
Times will be 8, 8:30, 10 & 10:30.
The car seat and class are free, but the information is invaluable.
Karen Hood is a foster mom who took a car seat safety class during another one of our recent giveaways.
In addition to learning the right way to put in a car seat, Hood learned an important fact.
"I learned that car seats expire."
She said the class is beneficial to anyone who is responsible for the most precious passengers.
“One, you get a great car seat; 2) you learn a lot of information to keep your kids, or grandkids, or foster children or any children that you're having to transport, safe.”
And, experts say, using a car seat the correct way can significantly reduce the risk of children dying in a crash.
For children who are rear-facing, it can reduce deaths by 71 percent. For those who are forward-facing, it can reduce deaths by 54-percent.
