Trending toward a February feel

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Cooler weather is coming, but not before temperatures chase down records.

High pressure continues to stay anchored off the California coast, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Metro Tucson peaks in the upper 70s to low 80s through the first half of the weekend. Thursday's forecast high of 82° is slated to break the old record of 81° set back in 2016.

Temperatures through Saturday run 10-13° above average for this time of year.

Cooler temps and gusty winds remain in the forecast, courtesy of a pair of storm systems. The first system passes by Sunday, dropping temperatures into the low to mid 70s. Storm system #2 arrives Tuesday with highs only reaching the upper 60s, which is typical for mid February.

Both storm systems lack moisture, as Tuesday only features a 10% chance of showers.
