TUCSON -   A local gem store was burglarized early Saturday morning and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise was stolen.

It happened at Norcoss Madagascar in midtown. Security footage shows the suspected burglar walking into the shop, stealing several pieces of minerals, petrified wood valued at $10,000.

The store has been in business for two decades. The operations manager is hurt and confused.

"It's not only my work, it's my home," Carolyn Cary said. "You become very attached to a lot of the things here, they are beautiful pieces and each and every one has it's nuances and you love them. You just really do, each and every one of them are beautiful in their own way."

Norcoss Madagascar is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
