Former director of UA school of journalism dies at 85

TUCSON - Donald W. Carson, former director of the University of Arizona School of Journalism, died Thursday at 85.

Carson, a 1954 UA alumnus, reported for the Arizona Daily Star and the Associated Press before returning to work for UA. He was director of the school from 1978-1985, according to the University of Arizona.

Carson name will be added to the inaugural UA School of Journalism Hall of Fame on April 7. He was a member of the Arizona Newspaper Association and Arizona Daily Wildcat Hall of Fame.
