Hittin' the Trails 4 You: Esperero Trail

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - "Hittin' the Trails" has featured some of the hardest hikes in the Old Pueblo. This one may be the most grueling.

Sabino Canyon's Esperero Trail has a couple of starting points. The first is near the Cactus Picnic Area & the second is shuttle stop #1. The latter starting point drops hikers off at the Rattlesnake Trail, which is a mostly flat and easy hike.

After a half mile, the Esperero Trail greets you. Along the trek, hikers can net a lung busting elevation gain of 4,000 feet. There are a few flat spots, allowing people to catch their breath & the breathtaking flora and fauna in the Catalinas.
