TUCSON (KVOA) -- A police incident has forced DPS to close both directions of Interstate 8 at milepost 135 east of Gila Bend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Officials would not provide details on the police incident.
There is no estimated time for reopening the interstate.
To get around the closure, eastbound motorists can detour by taking northbound State Route 85 in Gila Bend to eastbound Interstate 10. I-10 intersects with I-8 at milepost 199 east of Casa Grande.
Westbound motorists can detour by taking northbound State Route 84, which is south of Maricopa, to northbound State Route 347 to westbound I-10 through the Valley. They can then take southbound SR 85 to re-enter I-8 at Gila Bend.
