Gusty winds on the outs

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - The Sonoran Wind Machine turns off today. Near record heat still remains.

According to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish, Metro Tucson peaks in the upper 70s to low 80s this afternoon. Today's forecast high of 80° is two degrees shy of tying the record set back in 1987. Mostly sunny skies this afternoon gives way to mostly clear skies overnight.

Cloud cover should be rather sparse for tomorrow morning's viewing of the Super Blue Blood Moon. Expect Wednesday morning temperatures int he low to mid 40s around the Old Pueblo.

High pressure parks off the California coast through early next week, keeping temps in the upper 70s to low 80s. With the exception of partly cloudy skies Saturday, expect ample sunshine for the foreseeable future.
